Choosing the right
school for your child is not always simple. I understand. You want the school and program that best meets your child’s strengths and needs. There are many factors to consider when choosing a school. I visit schools regularly; I observe classrooms and tour facilities. I am familiar with the full range of schools, resources and programs in the Greater Toronto area and in southern Ontario. |
I provide counselling and support with information, advocacy and personal attention to your individual needs. I offer professional, objective counsel to help you make these important decisions about your child’s education.
Consultation on the best schools and programs for your child's needs: public, private, independent, special education.
Guidance and support for families with special education concerns: IEP (Individual Education Plan); IPRC (Identification, Placement and Review Committee); accessing resources within the public system and the private sector; reviewing assessments of learning strengths and needs.
Advocacy and case management, to coordinate and facilitate communication between family and educational, medical, psychological and other support services.
Referrals to professional colleagues for psychoeducational assessments, remediation and tutoring services, social skills programs, parent education and support resources, psychological counselling and psychotherapy.
Relocation services for families new to the Greater Toronto Area.
Judy Winberg has a Master of Education degree in Applied Psychology (Guidance and Counselling) from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, as well as a Diploma in the Education of Exceptional Students from York University.
A former chair of Student Services and Special Programs with the Toronto District School Board, Judy Winberg has been a well-respected special education teacher and guidance counsellor since 1974. She is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, the Ontario School Counsellors’ Association, and the LDAO (Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario).
Long recognized as an advocate for students, Judy Winberg has extensive experience in school administration and has completed the Ontario Principals’ Qualification program. She is committed to true partnerships between home and school to ensure success.
